Burung tropis (Tropical Birds)
Common Hill Myna
Gracula religiosa
- legendaris
- 75 km/h
- Risiko rendah
The forest mimic that learned human speech before anyone asked it to. Its wild whistles ring across Asian canopies in voices that sound oddly like our own.
- Populasi
- No global numeric estimate published; describes the species as "common to abundant" across its range with a currently decreasing population trend, driven partly by ~14% loss of tree cover across its range over three generations (suspected 1-19% decline) and historically heavy capture for the pet trade (over 170,000 wild-caught birds exported 1994-2003).
- Habitat
- Evergreen, moist-deciduous, and wet forest interior, edges, and clearings; also cultivated areas such as coffee plantations; found from sea level up to about 2,000 m elevation.
- Fakta menarik
- Despite its reputation, the Common Hill Myna does not mimic other wild birds in nature — it's only in captivity that it becomes one of the world's most accomplished vocal mimics, rivaling the African grey parrot in reproducing human speech and whistled tunes.
- Sebaran
- South and Southeast Asia: from north-east India (Kumaon, terai/foothills), Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, and Arunachal Pradesh east through the lower Himalayas into southern China and Indochina, south through Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo and the Greater Sundas, to Palawan in the Philippines; virtually extirpated in Bangladesh. Introduced populations established in Puerto Rico; a formerly introduced Christmas Island population is now extirpated.
- Makanan
- Omnivorous; primarily an arboreal frugivore (figs are the dominant food, plus berries and seeds), supplemented with nectar and aerial insects (e.g. termites), and occasionally small lizards.
- Ukuran

- Bentang sayap
- 0,5 m
