Mindoro Bleeding-heart
Gallicolumba platenae
- legendaris

- Kritis
Has a vivid red splash on its chest that looks like a fresh wound. Almost nobody has seen one alive.
- Populasi
- 50–249 mature individuals (≈70–400 total individuals), declining. Species was common in the early 20th century, now severely reduced by habitat loss and hunting. No confirmed record/photograph since 2005 — some sources consider it possibly extinct.
- Habitat
- Closed-canopy primary (and some secondary) lowland forest, generally below ~750–800 m elevation, favoring dry substrates on gentle slopes and dry forest floor with bamboo/rattan thickets and dry riverbeds.
- Fakta menarik
- It gets its "bleeding heart" name from a patch of bright plumage on the breast that looks like an open wound — a pattern shared with several other Gallicolumba doves; it breeds around May and has a generation length of 6.6 years (a demographic figure, not a documented max lifespan).
- Sebaran
- Endemic to Mindoro Island, Philippines. Confirmed records from only four sites since 1980: Puerto Galera, the MUFRC Experimental Forest, the Siburan forest area (which holds the largest remaining suitable habitat), and Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park.
- Makanan
- Terrestrial, forages on the forest floor; has been observed feeding on fig fruit alongside green pigeons.
- Ukuran
- 0,28 m
- Masa hidup
