Amur Falcon
Falco amurensis

Every autumn, a million of these little falcons funnel through Nagaland, then cross the Arabian Sea in a single non-stop sea-flight to Africa. The longest oceanic crossing of any raptor.

- Fakta menarik
- Amur Falcons undertake one of the longest migrations of any raptor, flying from breeding grounds in eastern Asia to wintering grounds in southern Africa via a nonstop crossing of the Arabian Sea fueled largely by dragonflies; a mass stopover in Nagaland, India that was once a hunting ground for hundreds of thousands of migrating falcons was turned into a protected roosting site after a 2012-2013 conservation campaign.
- Sebaran
- Breeds across southeastern Siberia, Mongolia, northern China and far eastern Russia; migrates via India and Sri Lanka, crossing the Arabian Sea, to winter across southern and eastern Africa — one of the longest migrations of any raptor
- Makanan
- Almost entirely insectivorous — termites, locusts, ants, beetles, dragonflies (thought to help fuel the Arabian Sea crossing), and other insects caught in flight or on the ground; occasionally takes small birds, small mammals, and amphibians during the breeding season
