Burung buruan (Game Birds)
Green Peafowl
Pavo muticus
- mistis
- 85 km/h
- Terancam punah
Asia's wild peafowl, taller and greener than its famous Indian cousin, stalking river flats in Myanmar and Java like a walking mosaic. A flagship of forests we are still trying not to lose.
- Populasi
- 10,000-19,999 mature individuals (roughly 15,000-30,000 total individuals); population trend decreasing. Improved estimate reflects better survey methodology vs. older ~5,000-10,000 (c.1995) figures, not actual population growth.
- Habitat
- Open woodland, dry deciduous and evergreen forest edges, bamboo groves, grasslands, savanna and farmland margins, especially near rivers, wetlands and other water sources; avoids dense/closed-canopy rainforest. Occurs from sea level up to roughly 900-1,000 m typically (occasionally recorded to 2,000-3,000 m), with highest densities near undisturbed rivers. In Java, now largely restricted to savanna habitats.
- Fakta menarik
- The Green Peafowl is the national bird of Myanmar, and unlike its Indian relative, both sexes show similarly iridescent green-and-bronze plumage — with neck and breast feathers resembling Chinese dragon scales — making the species far less sexually dimorphic than the Indian Peafowl.
- Sebaran
- Fragmented populations across Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, southern China (Yunnan), and Java (Indonesia), with strongholds now primarily in Cambodia and adjacent Vietnam. Extirpated from India, Bangladesh, and Peninsular Malaysia, where it was formerly widespread.
- Makanan
- Omnivorous: fruits, berries, seeds, flower petals and buds, plus invertebrates (grasshoppers, moths) and small vertebrates including small snakes and other small aquatic prey found while foraging in shallow water.
- Ukuran
- 2,5 m
- Bentang sayap
- 1,2 m
- Masa hidup
- 15 tahun
