Burung kicau (Songbirds)
Styan's Bulbul
Pycnonotus taivanus
- epik
- 65 km/h
- Rentan
Taiwan's east-coast bulbul, ringed in orange and forever in trouble with cousins from the wrong side of the central mountains. Where the Pacific surf hits the cliffs, this is the bird singing back.
- Populasi
- Roughly 10,000-20,000 mature individuals (a much higher total of ~668,000 individuals has not superseded the standard figure)
- Habitat
- Secondary forests, scrubland, agricultural land, parks, gardens, and coastal plains at low-to-mid elevations, generally below about 1,600 m
- Fakta menarik
- Styan's Bulbul is told apart from its near-identical relative, the light-vented bulbul, by its solid black crown (versus a white crown patch), and the two species freely hybridize where their ranges meet in Taiwan — a genetic threat worsened by light-vented bulbuls being released there during Buddhist ceremonies.
- Sebaran
- Endemic to eastern and southeastern Taiwan, chiefly the Huadong (East Rift) Valley and Hengchun Peninsula; overlaps with the light-vented bulbul near the northern edge of its range, and has been extirpated from Yilan County
- Makanan
- Omnivorous — feeds mainly on fruit (including figs) plus insects and other small invertebrates; large flocks gather at fruiting trees and ripening crops
- Ukuran
- 0,19 m
- Bentang sayap
- 0,27 m
- Masa hidup
- 2,6 tahun
